Colleges and Universities Help Awareness
WWP has partnered for the third year with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) to help raise awareness of efforts within the NCAA college community. So many of our wounded heroes are of college age, and this seems to create a natural bond between the cooperating college’s current students and WWP representatives.
This year’s events will include the playing of WWP public service announcements during pre-game festivities and the appearance of WWP representatives at selected NCAA football games. The goal is to educate the public and support WWP’s mission of helping severely injured service men and women in their time of need.
As part of the partnership, local wounded warriors will also be honored prior-to and during events on NCAA university campuses by participating in programs including escorting the Color Guard into the stadiums and the pre-game coin-toss. Coin-tosses will be highlighted by a special Wounded Warrior Project commemorative coin that features both the WWP and NACDA logos.
To help continue the efforts off the field, NACDA is also supporting additional programs including Wounded Warrior Project motivational speakers who will visit a number of participating NCAA colleges to give speeches at team banquets, training camps, and pre-game locker room meetings.
This fall, be sure to look for WWP when rooting for your favorite NCAA college team. If your team doesn’t have any WWP events planned, it’s not too late! Call and ask your college team to join team WWP.
